Steve, I see that you just recently got into this business and while I don't expect you to take my word for everything, you are close enough to Durango and can consult with GT on these matters as well as other forums.

After almost 6 years in this business, I have gained a perspective that if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't bother with all the brain damage of dealing with the networks and the insurance companies.

I sell a "Preventive Maintenance" service that any reasonable minded person will understand the need for and gladly pay, cash, check or credit card.

There are those that will agree that windshield repair and replacement is soon going to be considered and normal wear and tear consumable item that people will just pay for out their pocket.

You will get mixed opinions on how this is going to affect WSR but I believe it will have a levelling affect.

Go to www.chipdr.com and see what Mike Burstein's is doing. It will be like a breath of fresh air!
"We do not bill any insurance company or third party claims administator"

You can email or call Mike, he is very generous with his time and will be happy to give you insights into the "real world" of this business.

My suggestion is to purchase and download Mike's e-book, "How to start you own windshield repair business", It's $19.95 and has a wealth of excellent information in it that you won't find anywhere else.

I am contemplating resigning or cancelling my network contracts and just going to a cash only system, or as Mike does, tell people to check with their insurance company or agent because " they might reimburse you for the cost of the repair".

This leaves it all on the customer to deal with as far as how each insurance company handles it and whether or not it is going to affect their insurance rates.

Wow! after saying all that, I feel relieved, that something actually might make sense for a change!

On another note, I'm curious on how you are marketing yourself in the Farmington area, with the sparse population and all.

Let me know--------

Gary

FRom what I've been reading I believe everythig you say and thats why i asked.
I am just trying to do the best quality repairs possible and take a lot of pride in the result that I'm getting. I am educating everyone I meet who think mediocre repairs are as good as it gets. I can prove them wrong, without a doubt!! I will never get tired of watching that damage clear right up and the look on the customers face It's like getting paid twice.
Anyway thanx for all your advice and support.
Asfar as marketing here, I am having to be creative and use some good old fasion salesmanship, I,ll let you know how that works out.
