Hi everyone I'm still at the practicing on a windshield stage I think I'm able to do a good repair. The clarity is brilliant small difference at impact point and sometimes you can see some spider lines depending which way you look at it, its a major difference from the break. Only problem is when i point these out to friends they are not so impressed they where expecting 100% removal, is this normal? Also no matter how good i think i do a crack repair i'm left with what looks like a very fine scratch?? Has anyone got some good photos of repairs so i can compare i've got a really good camera but the repairs will not show up on them. Thanks for any advice!!

well if you want perfect ..CHANGE THE GLASS!!!!...you need to educate yourself and friends to the realization that a repair is just that..A REPAIR..it is not going to be perfect..their will always be a pit that you will see and some scars depending on the break..you are saving the w/s..period...always tell customer it will be at least 80% better but you are saving w/s..if you get better than 80% that will be icing on cake..never over sell..most guys doing repairs are getting 60.00 or less for a repair..Would customer spend 60.00 or several hundred to replace??

Mr. Chip is right. As a repair technician you need to learn to manage customer expectations. A new windshield is much different then a windshield repair. Although the structual integrity is completely restored the visual results will very from chip to chip.

mr.chip was right on. when i do repairs i actually have a page long waiver that the customer signs. i charge $60 for a repair and $15 for each additional repair on the same windshield. because of this low cost i always way undersell the chip repair and try to sell a windshield replacement. i usually tell people it will look "75% clearer but will be %100 prevented from further cracking"

Many repairs are repeat customers and they realize that the repaired area does not always disappear. I try to let others know before the repair that I cannot guarantee to make the break disappear, but I will guarantee that it will not run.
