Hi,
Anyone had any major issues with high windshield temperatures? Is it recommended to cool the windshield or put up a shade?

Great question. The best thing to do is to cool the windshield down. I would recommend that you get a spray bottle and fill it with 70% rubbing Alcohol. This can be used to spray on the windshield in hot conditions.

The area I'm in is hot as hell during the summer, I always pull the vehicle into some shade and run the defrost on cold for a few while I get my equipment set up. Try that out...;)

The best thing to do to cool down the windshield is put it in some shade. Run the AC for a few minutes and let the entire car from inside cool the windshield. Spraying Alcohol on a w/s with a repair waiting to be done might infect the crack (alcohol). If any of that sprayed alcohol seeped into the crack...and you dont evaporate it all out. The repair just went to the toilet...thats just my 2cents of nonsense.
Also the recommended temperature to do a repair on a W/S is between 70 - 90 degrees.

If the windshield is too hot it is a recipe for disaster........it will crack everytime always cool the job down with either a light water mist...cool wet towell...or best of all just shade and let it cool slowly as not to shock the glass..........take care ...windshieldguy
